Mouse TNF Alpha ELISA Kit (Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha)
INTENDED USE
Mouse TNF alpha ELISA kit can be used for analysing amounts of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha, TNFα, TNF-a) in mouse plasma, serum, biological fluids and tissue homogenates samples.
INTRODUCTION
Three identical subunits make up the multi-chain protein known as tumour necrosis factor alpha. Each of them has a transmembrane area, an internal region within the cell and a soluble section outside of it. ProTNF-alpha is formed from a precursor protein which has an N-terminal signal sequence together with a C-terminal component. The coiled coil domains help structure the protein into an alpha helix shape.
Macrophages, platelets, T helper cells, mast cells, and other cell types can all create TNF-alpha. It has a central role in inflammation. It was discovered in 1975 by U.S. scientists and has been linked to a number of autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular disorders and cancer. The levels present in human plasma are not associated with body mass index (BMI) per se. Its expression in adipose tissue is increased in obese individuals, as well as in the absence of obesity.
Through IL1 receptor antagonist (IL1Ra), TNF-alpha can trigger an inflammatory response in macrophages. This can result in the release of chemokines from macrophages, such as CCL2, which facilitates the attraction and activation of monocytes. The activation of monocytes causes the release of cytokines such as; TNF-alpha, IL-1beta and IL-6, this can trigger a series of inflammatory processes.
