Adrenaline Research ELISA Kit (Epinephrine)

INTENDED USE

Adrenaline research ELISA kit can be used for accurately measuring in vitro quantitative levels of epinephrine (adrenaline) in human EDTA-plasma, cell culture and many other biological samples types. This assay has a minimum sensitivity detection limit of 0.25 ng/ml.

BACKGROUND

Epinephrine (adrenaline), can be referred to as a catecholamine since it contains a catechol moiety. It is strong emotions such as anger and fear which cause adrenaline to be released into the bloodstream, this leads to an; increase in blood pressure, heart rate, muscle strangle and sugar metabolism. It is way the body is preparing its self for strenuous activity, this process is often known as the “flight or fight response”.

Adrenaline can cause the smooth muscles which are contained in the lungs to relax by binding to beta-2-adrenergic receptors on bronchiole muscle cells, this enables intensified respiration by causing the bronchioles to relax. Another role is to have an effect in the liver, together with glucagon, adrenaline is able to break down glycogen energy stores. Finally in the heart muscles cells epinephrine binds beta-adrenergic receptors which results in the hearts contraction rate, leading to increased levels of blood being supplied to all the tissues in the body.

This is a flexible competitive assay system which be used for many different biological sample types and volumes. The sample is extracted by using a cis-diol-specific affinity gel, acylated and then converted enzymatically.

I am a first time user and found that your instruction manual was very easy to follow. The insulin ELISA assay performed well and I was happy with the results that were generated.

Senior Technician / Addenbrooke’s Hospital

I carried out a pilot study comparing the performance of many ELISA assay's from different suppliers and found your kits to be one of the better performers. We observed good linearity and tight replicates.
