Mouse N-ERC/Mesothelin ELISA Kit

Full Name: Mouse N-ERC/Mesothelin ELISA Kit
Reactivity: Mouse
Sample Type: Plasma, Cell Culture Supernatant, Serum
Sensitivity: 0.15 ng/ml

BACKGROUND

ERC was first discovered as a gene that was expressed highly in cancer affected renal tissue when compared to normal renal tissues in Eker rats. The megakaryocyte potentiating factor (MPF) or the mesothelin are the equivalent human homologue of this protein. The CERC or the mesothelin gene is a tumor suppressor gene that is translocated to the DNA of cancer cells. When this gene has been put in error, it “promotes cell survival and progression. ”This protein controls how many megakaryocytes are produced in bone marrow. It also helps regulate hematopoiesis and allows for a balanced amount of red blood cells and platelets. Mesothelin or CERC is found on chromosome 8 at position 19q13.2-19q13.1. M-mesothelin and S-mesothelin are the two different forms of mesothelin genes. The m-mesothelin has four functions: it promotes cell survival, it regulates megakaryocyte production, it helps regulate hematopoiesis and red blood cells, and it allows for a balanced amount of platelets. Mutations in the CERC gene lead to overexpression of this protein that causes an increase in blood cell counts in newly formed RBCs.As a result, the chance of malignant growths on the surface of organs like the kidney or lung is enhanced. When there is more mesothelin in the bloodstream, it can be transported in the body and then cause inflammation or cancerous growths.

Mesothelin testing is indicated for a suspected mesothelioma case. Mesothelin is a protein with the molecular weight of approximately 24kDa. It can be detected in urine, serum or cerebrospinal fluid and is predominantly present in plasma. The m-mesothelin has four functions: it promotes cell survival, it regulates megakaryocyte production, it helps regulate hematopoiesis and red blood cells, and it allows for a balanced amount of platelets. Mutations in the CERC gene lead to overexpression of this protein that causes an increase in blood cell counts in newly formed RBCs. This leads to an increase in megakaryocyte production, which can lead to a blood cell anemia.

I carried out a pilot study comparing the performance of many ELISA assay's from different suppliers and found your kits to be one of the better performers. We observed good linearity and tight replicates.
