CDV IgM ELISA Kit (Canine Distemper Virus)

Full Name: CDV IgM ELISA Kit (Canine Distemper Virus)
Reactivity: Canine/Dog
Sample Type: Serum, Plasma
Sensitivity:  Qualitative

BACKGROUND

Canine distemper virus (CDV), can also be sometimes called hardpad disease. It is caused by single stranded DNA virus, a member of the Paramyxoviridae family and related to the viruses that can lead to measles or rinderpest. This can affect various animal families for example; dogs, foxes, wolves, ferrets, coyotes, skunks and raccoons. Especially in canines, CDV can impact many different body systems such as the brain, spinal cord, gastrointestinal tracts and respiratory tracts. A distemper virus that affects these various body systems can cause a significant impact on an individual. If the individual is a human, it can cause significant neurological damage. Even if it does not affect the brain, distemper virus can impact other systems of the body including causing breathing difficulties or gastrointestinal problems such as vomiting and diarrhea.

Vaccination from CDV is important in order to prevent this disease, puppies need to be vaccinated initially between 6-8 weeks, followed by a booster shot every 2-4 weeks until age of 16 weeks. The following protocol is based on a monoclonal mediated system that can determine IgM antibodies against canine distemper virus (CDV) using samples of plasma and serum.

INTENDED USE

CDV IgM ELISA kit is designed for measuring IgM antibodies to canine distemper virus (CDV)(dog) using plasma or serum.

SENSITIVITY

The standard range of IgM antibodies to canine distemper virus (CDV) using current  CDV IgM ELISA kit is qualitative and quantitative. Please contact us for the protocol insert for more details.

ASSAY CHARACTERISTICS

– Test is valid if the first two dilutions of the positive control are above 0.200 (OD 450 nm).
– Negative control should give an OD < 0.200.

I am a first time user and found that your instruction manual was very easy to follow. The insulin ELISA assay performed well and I was happy with the results that were generated.

I carried out a pilot study comparing the performance of many ELISA assay's from different suppliers and found your kits to be one of the better performers. We observed good linearity and tight replicates.
