Rat COX-2 ELISA Kit (Cyclooxygenase-2)

Full Name: Rat COX-2 ELISA Kit (Cyclooxygenase-2)
Reactivity: Rat
Sample Type: Tissue Lysates, Cell Lysates
Sensitivity: 0.16 ng/ml

Cyclooxygenase-2 is necessary for prostaglandins, that is required in a several physiological processes. Prostaglandin G/H Synthase 2 (PGHS2) is another name for it and because it is membrane-bound, it can only operate on molecules that are close to its active site. COX2 is essential for tissue healing, pain perception and inflammation. Its potential therapeutic benefit in treating conditions including cancer and arthritis has been thoroughly researched.

Tissues produce COX-2, which is a catalyst in the production of inflammatory mediators. Its expression is tightly regulated and can be induced through various cytokines, growth factors and endotoxins. This process helps to regulate inflammation, thereby providing protection against injury or disease. Functionally, it is a homodimer that is responsible for catalysing two steps during the conversion process of arachadonic acid into prostaglandin H2.

COX-2 is further subdivided into a number of COX isoenzymes. These different isoenzymes have distinct functional properties and are thought to be largely responsible for the differences in response to various stimuli observed. While COX-2 is found in white blood cells and platelets, COX-1 is located in high concentrations in the brain and heart. Both are involved in inflammation, but COX-2 is considered the main culprit behind pain and inflammation.

Rat COX-2 ELISA kit can be used for detecting quantitative levels of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2, COX-2) in rat lysates of tissues or cells. This assay has a minimum sensitivity detection limit of 0.16 ng/ml.

  • All reagents supplied need to be stored at 2 °C – 8 °C, unopened reagents will retain reactivity until expiration date. Do not use reagents beyond this date.

I am a first time user and found that your instruction manual was very easy to follow. The insulin ELISA assay performed well and I was happy with the results that were generated.

J. Thomas
Senior Technician / Addenbrooke’s Hospital

I carried out a pilot study comparing the performance of many ELISA assay's from different suppliers and found your kits to be one of the better performers. We observed good linearity and tight replicates.
