Estradiol E2 ELISA Kit
INTENDED USE
Human estradiol E2 ELISA kit is a reliable quantitative procedure for measuring estradiol E2 levels in human serum samples. This assay has a minimum sensitivity detection of 10.0 pg/ml.
BACKGROUND
Estradiol E2 is a steroid hormone that has a molecular weight of 272.4 Da, it contains a phenolic A ring. It is a natural estrogen which can be produced predominately by; the placenta, ovary, male testes and adrenal cortex. Over 98% of it is secreted into the bloodstream is found to circulate attached to the sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and to a less extent to other proteins like albumin. This means that only a very small faction circulates in the conjugated form or as a free hormone form.
There are estradiol-receptor complexes which are responsible for stimulating the appropriate response at the nuclear level within the specific the target sites. There are many target sites which can include; follicles, breast, uterus, urethra, vagina, pituitary and hypothalamus. Measuring serum levels can be essential in helping to evaluate a number of different menstrual dysfunctions for example precocious, menopause, delayed puberty in girls, primary and secondary amenorrhea. Elevated levels have also be identified in patients with gynaecomastia, testicular tumors and feminizing syndromes.

SENSITIVITY
The minimum sensitivity detection limit of estradiol E2 using current estradiol-E2 ELISA kit was approximately 10.0 pg/ml. The dynamic range for this assay is 10.0 – 1,000.0 pg/ml.
