Endostatin ELISA kit
INTENDED USE
Human endostatin ELISA kit can detect amounts of endostatin (Es, Estrogen) present is human plasma, serum, biological fluids and tissue homogenates.
INTRODUCTION
Even though attention in vascular science often goes to substances driving blood vessel development, the body also relies on natural shutdown mechanisms to limit such growth. One strong example is Endostatin, a small protein piece – about 20 kilodaltons in size – that forms when collagen XVIII, part of vessel walls, breaks down. First identified toward the end of the 1990s, it works by slowing down the creation of fresh capillaries. What stands out is how it locks onto endothelial cells, blocking vital growth prompts. Instead of supporting vessel formation, it hinders movement of cells toward growing sites. Over time, these same cells face removal through apoptosis, a natural shutdown mechanism. Because of this, steady suppression of angiogenesis becomes possible.
What makes endostatin useful is how it targets tumor growth. Since cancer keeps making new blood vessels, blocking that process offers strong potential. Instead of creating a new drug, scientists used a version built from human genes. This form of endostatin entered clinical trials, first seen in widespread use across Chinese medical settings. Starving tumors of blood means less room for growth, slowing spread. It blocks key routes cancer uses to get nutrients. Multiple actions unfold at once, hitting different signals in the body. Chasing one path only can lead to resistance; this approach splits attention between targets. Simultaneous pressure may keep diseases from adapting too easily.
