IL20RA ELISA Kit (Interleukin-20 Receptor Subunit Alpha)
INTENDED USE
Human IL20RA ELISA kit can measure concentrations of interleukin-20 receptor subunit alpha (IL20RA, cytokine receptor class-II member 8, CRF2-8, class II cytokine receptor ZCYTOR7) present is plasma, serum, biological fluids or tissue homogenate samples.
INTRODUCTION
IL20RA (Interleukin 20 receptor subunit alpha) encodes one member of the heterodimeric receptor complex that mediates signaling of the IL-10 cytokine family members IL-19, IL-20, and IL-24 to regulate inflammatory responses. While exhibiting some overlapping activities, these cytokines drive inflammatory or inhibitory effects depending on receptor engagement and cell types involved. As one receptor component conferring ligand specificity, IL20RA expression patterns and signaling modulation presents opportunities for tailored immune intervention.
The type I transmembrane glycoprotein IL20RA combines with IL20RB to permit IL-19, IL-20, and IL-24 signaling. However, IL20RA alone binds IL-19 and IL-24. Following engagement, subsequent phosphorylation cascades involving JAK-STAT pathways activate downstream transcription of genes governing proliferation, chemotaxis, apoptosis and immunity. For example, IL20RA-dependent IL-19 signaling stimulates monocytes but generally suppresses other leukocytes like T-cells when protected from counter-regulation. Consequently, the IL-20 subfamily cytokines display highly contextual outcomes.
IL-20 subfamily overexpression from keratinocytes may drive characteristic hyperplasia and pathogenesis. Genetic variants in IL20RA also associate with plaque psoriasis susceptibility. Quantifying serum IL20RA levels by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays may enable gauging disease severity while pharmacologically modulating availability or activity could provide routes for therapeutic intervention against recalcitrant autoimmune disorders.
