IGSF11 ELISA Kit (Immunoglobulin Superfamily Member 11)

INTENDED USE

Human IGSF11 ELISA kit can measure concentrations of immunoglobulin superfamily member 11 (IGSF11, Bt-IGSF, CXADRL1, VSIG3) present is plasma, serum, biological fluids or tissue homogenate samples.

INTRODUCTION

IGSF11 is an understudied transmembrane protein predominantly expressed in the central nervous system. Initially discovered in 2006, it stands out for its atypical immunoglobulin-like domain and selective expression pattern, suggesting specialized functions within the brain. Despite over 15 years since its identification, remarkably little is definitively known about IGSF11’s physiological importance.

IGSF11 transcripts show enrichment in the developing mouse brain, especially the cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum. Adult expression becomes more restricted to subsets of neurons in cortical layers 2 and 5, Purkinje cells, and cerebellar granule cells. At the subcellular level, it localizes to the somatodendritic plasma membrane compartment, positioning it for a potential role in cell-cell recognition or adhesion. Intriguingly, IGSF11 demonstrates differential splicing – generating distinct isoforms containing either 3 or 4 extracellular immunoglobulin domains.

More recent work begins illuminating IGSF11’s function by analyzing mouse knock-out models. Deletion of it causes no gross abnormalities or neuron loss, consistent with compensation by other proteins during development. However subtle synaptic defects emerge in cortical and hippocampal neurons including alterations in dendrite spine stability and morphology. Parallel behavioral evaluations reveal impaired motor learning and memory consolidation. Taken together, results implicate postsynaptic IGSF11 in mediating structural and functional plasticity.

I carried out a pilot study comparing the performance of many ELISA assay's from different suppliers and found your kits to be one of the better performers. We observed good linearity and tight replicates.
