INTENDED USE
Rat GRO/CINC-3 ELISA kit is designed for measuring quantitative levels of both native and recombinant GRO/CINC-3 using rat samples of serum, plasma-EDTA and cell culture supernatant. This assay has a minimum sensitivity detection limit of 0.51 pg/ml.
BACKGROUND
Rat fibroblasts and alveolar macrophages that have been activated by cytokines express cytokine-induced neutrophil chemo attractant 3. Based on its DNA and protein sequences, it is also referred to as rat MIP-2, CXCL1 and GRO beta. It is expressed by bone marrow cells in response to TNF alpha activation, where it increases the recruitment of neutrophils to the site of inflammation.
GRO/CINC-3 is a member of the alpha CXC chemokines subfamily and the protein sequence of rat CINC-3 is found to display 88% identity with murine MIP-2. It has been identified to possess a potent chemo tactic factor for rat neutrophil both in vivo and in vitro. CINC-3 and CINC-4 are structurally similar proteins with a similar domain structure. The two proteins differ only in their C-terminal regions, wherein CINC-3 contains a tyrosine kinase domain at its C terminus and lacks an important region for protein binding, while CINC4 has an SH2 domain which is absent from the former.
