Cancer Antigen 125 (CA-125) ELISA Kit

  • Created on the 11 May, 2017.

BACKGROUND

Cancer antigen 125 (also known as CA-125, carbohydrate antigen 125, carcinoma antigen 125, mucin 16 or MUC16), is a vital biomarker which is elevated in the blood of many patients having specific types of cancers or in some cases other benign conditions. CA-125 is the most frequently used marker for the detection of epithelial ovarian cancer (including stage I disease), and more than 90% of women who are at the advance stage display elevated levels of CA-125 in their blood. It has also be useful in monitoring how the cancer is responding to treatment and predicting the prognosis of the after treatment. In women who have primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma and have undergone first-line therapy, a CA 125 assay value that is equal to or greater than 35 U/mL was found to indicate the presence of residual tumor.

INTENDED USE

Human CA-125 ELISA kit is designed for measuring in vitro quantitative levels of cancer antigen 125 (carcinoma antigen 125, mucin 16, carbohydrate antigen 125, MUC16) in human plasma and serum. This assay has a minimum sensitivity limit of 0.25 U/ml.

SENSITIVITY

The minimum detection sensitivity level of human CA-125 (carcinoma antigen 125, MUC16, mucin 16) using this human cancer antigen 125 ELISA kit was 0.25 U/ml. The dynamic assay range for this kit is 25.0 – 600.0 U/ml.

I am a first time user and found that your instruction manual was very easy to follow. The insulin ELISA kit performed well and I was happy with the results that were generated.

I carried out a pilot study comparing the performance of many ELISA kits from different suppliers and found your kits to be one of the better performers. We observed good linearity and tight replicates.
